We’ve released micro-batch CD-R editions of two new ‘ALPHABETA’ albums by BABEL. They’re both available in the merch section of BABEL’s Bandcamp.
The first is ALPHABETA 2: Outskirts. The nine tracks on this EP are first sketches, demos and out-takes from the original 2011 album sessions. Unlike the original album with its survey approach to genre, there’s a continuity of sound and approach found here—a sort of spaghetti western jazz along the lines of mid-90’s era Labradford, Tortoise and Godspeed.
The second album, ALPHABETA 3: Organizm, is a revisiting of the ‘ALPHABETA’ concept (creating compositions by using the letters of words as notes) using organ and echo loops in the manner of Terry Riley or Steve Reich.
